Cost&Wage provides general statistical information and independent data tools. The website is intended to help visitors read and compare selected wage and consumer price observations.
General Information Only
Content published on Cost&Wage is provided for informational, educational and research purposes.
Nothing on the website constitutes personal financial, tax, legal, employment, salary-negotiation, immigration, relocation or investment advice.
Visitors should not make an important personal or commercial decision solely on the basis of a Cost&Wage page, comparison or calculator result.
Wage Data Limitations
Wage figures presented on Cost&Wage generally refer to PPP-adjusted average annual wages in constant prices, as identified on the relevant page.
An average wage is not:
- A median wage
- A minimum wage
- A starting salary
- A take-home salary
- An after-tax income figure
- A guarantee of individual earnings
A national average may not reflect differences involving:
- Occupation
- Industry
- Region
- Experience
- Qualifications
- Working hours
- Employment status
- Taxes
- Benefits
- Household circumstances
A visitor’s actual earnings may differ substantially from the displayed national average.
Consumer Price Data Limitations
Consumer price level indices are relative statistical measures.
When the United States is used as the reference value of 100, another value describes a relative index position against that benchmark.
An index-point difference is not automatically:
- A percentage difference
- An inflation rate
- An exchange rate
- A personal cost-of-living estimate
- A household budget
- A prediction of future prices
A national price level may not reflect differences between cities, regions, households, brands, product quality or individual spending patterns.
Different Observation Years
Wage data and consumer price data may relate to different years.
Cost&Wage displays the relevant observation year with each value and does not treat values from different years as a strict same-year comparison.
The latest available year may vary by:
- Country
- Indicator
- Dataset
- Price category
Calculator Limitations
Calculator results depend on:
- Values entered by the visitor
- Source observations available to the tool
- The selected country or countries
- The selected year
- The selected price categories
- Assumptions displayed by the calculator
- Rounding rules
Calculator results are illustrative rather than personalised.
Unless explicitly included, a calculator does not account for every:
- Tax
- Benefit
- Deduction
- Currency movement
- Employment condition
- Household characteristic
- Regional difference
- Personal spending choice
A calculator result should not be interpreted as a promise, quote, forecast or professional recommendation.
Data Revisions and Missing Data
Statistical observations may be revised by the original publisher.
A value displayed on Cost&Wage may change after a source revision is retrieved and validated.
Missing data remains unavailable unless a page clearly identifies a separate illustrative method.
Cost&Wage does not automatically:
- Treat missing data as zero
- Replace a missing year with a nearby year
- Interpolate an unreported value
- Predict a future observation
Source Attribution
Source observations are obtained from public statistical datasets, including datasets made available through the OECD Data Explorer and related OECD APIs.
Source datasets remain subject to their applicable terms, licences, notices and third-party rights.
Cost&Wage’s selection, calculations, charts and explanations are independently produced. They are not OECD publications or official OECD analysis.
No OECD Affiliation
Cost&Wage is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, authorised by or operated on behalf of the OECD.
References to the OECD are provided solely for source identification and attribution.
The OECD name, trademarks, logos, publications, source datasets and visual identity remain the property of their respective rights holders.
The presence of an OECD source link does not mean that the OECD has reviewed or approved the Cost&Wage page on which the link appears.
No Country Ranking or Recommendation
Cost&Wage does not determine which country is better to live, work or relocate to.
Wage and price observations should not be combined into a single verdict about overall affordability, prosperity, quality of life or personal suitability.
These outcomes depend on many circumstances outside the scope of the displayed datasets.
No Warranty
Cost&Wage aims to present observations and calculations accurately, but it does not guarantee that every value, calculation, explanation, source link or external page will always be complete, current or error-free.
The website and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
External Links
Cost&Wage links to external websites, including OECD and Google websites.

Responsibility for Decisions
Visitors are responsible for verifying information and evaluating whether it is suitable for their purposes.
Where a decision may have financial, legal, employment, tax, immigration or relocation consequences, visitors should consult an appropriately qualified professional and review current official information.
